Day 2- November 4th

Today was our first real day in Auckland. This morning I woke up and went for a run at around 7am to explore the surrounding area. I was using a really good app on my my phone called RunGo, which lets you sketch out a route and then gives you audio navigation directions so that you can enjoy the scenery without having to keep stopping to check your phone.
The pier that I ran down, next to the sea

This was useful to help my get my bearings and know my way around the city better, so when Lily, Emma and I went out exploring later, we could find some really cool places ; like this tea room.
Lady pour out some free tea!
We tried to cross over the motorway bridge over the ocean to explore the other side of Auckland however there was no path for pedestrians and we didn't fancy our chances dodging the cars on the motorways so we just headed back to the city centre for lunch.
Motorway bridge- we'll never know what's on the other side!
In the afternoon, we went to Vodafone to sort out a sin card for Lily, and the guy helping us was really friendly! He gave us a few tips for places to go and see in New Zealand and recommended us a few restaurants in Auckland to go and check out. One that caught our fancy was Indochine kitchen- a Vietnamese fusion restaurant- with some seriously reasonable prices- $12 dollars is not bad at all in New Zealand for a main dish + side dish!
Cool mural in the restaurant

As recommended by our Vodafone friend, after dinner we headed across the street to a little dessert shop. The desserts were so beautiful they were almost like a work of art! But predictably, their prices were also similar to a work of art, so the best we could do was take a nice artsy photo, and then amble home for another early night. Jetlag still going strong.
